Dark Tranquillity - Dong Open Air 2017
It was the year of 2008 when the paths of the Dong’s and Dark Tranquillity’s first crossed. The Swedes played themselves into the hearts of their audience in no time, and they, too, lost their heart – to the Dong hill edition of the local national dish, the döner kebab. On top of all this, they liked the festival and its people as they have told us more than once in a video greeting. ;)
About 25 years ago, the band, along with In Flames and At the Gates, established what later became known as the Gothenburg sound mixing up the death metal scene. Today, we know that Dark Tranquillity are the most persistent of the three – no rumors about breaking up or any arduous attempts to please. Atoma is the most interesting piece of their more recent history. It comes across as more contemplative than the previous works and makes more room for the clean vocals of trainer singer Mikael than ever. We are looking forward to see one of the nicest Dong veteran bands again!
