Atomgott - Dong Open Air 2017

We are not entirely sure what to do with the band name. This brutal death metal steam roller could claim to use divine powers to disintegrate atom-based bodies. But at the same time, the idea of a music-induced atomic worst case scenario comes to mind – oh my god! They growl in German, but still this doesn’t really help us in deciphering the whole thing, because we can barely understand a word.

We shall take this as a quality feature along with the gross cover of their first album Apatheia (2016). In the tradition of Cannibal corpse artworks, monstrosities, wounds, weapons, excrements, body parts, and other apocalyptic symbols are combined modestly. We are not surprised that song titles like “Die Richter ihrer selbst” (Their own judges) peeks into the darker side of human existence. Just like a bit of grind blends in nicely with the sound of the guys from Mönchengladbach. Well? Like what you read?
