Raven Woods - Dong Open Air 2016

When Raven Woods get started, they sound like gunfire that hits the target every time! Finest death metal whose precision and sound remind of Behemoth, blasted at you with ardent zeal! Originally founded as a melodic black metal band in Ankara in 1997, their first long player “… and Emotions Are Spilled” in 2006 showed a clear shift towards death metal. Shows with Nile and other idols encouraged the quintet to stay their course.

With all the influences that might be found in Raven Woods’ song, they still manage to bring in their own distinct identity. Oriental elements in the middle of their musical bullet spree, entire interludes like in “Upheaven-Subterrenean” and the cooperation with Sufi artist Mercan Dede make up part of the band’s individuality and a bit of Islamic mysticism. The Turks are going to tackle the Dong hill with their latest, matured piece “Enfeebling the Throne!”
