Harpyie - Dong Open Air 2016

Although we have a number of songbirds up on the Dong hill, we must admit that we have not yet seen any harpies. Harpyie from the darkest parts of Eastern Westphalia might just be able to close this shortfall in 2016. The colorful troupe has been fighting their battles since 2011, pushing medieval metal to new levels. The video for their song “Sturmvögel” proves that the band does not always take themselves dead serious.

Metal meets folk meets pop, this is how Harpyie describe their own style. Bands like the spearhead of German medieval rock, Subway to Sally, are unmistakably among their musical influences. But the storm birds take things up a gear compared to their Potsdam based colleagues. When Harpyie enter the stage to tell their stories with violin and bagpipes, the first few rows of the audience will not go unscathed. Just make sure you don’t spill your mead!
