Gamma Ray - Dong Open Air 2015

There just is not way around Gamma Ray in the category of German power metal. When the 1990s proved to be a more challenging time for heavy metal, these guys kept the flags raised high, enriching and inspiring the metal scene worldwide, including Hammerfall, by staying true to their style which combined all of the virtues of the genre.

Founder, guitarist and singer Kai Hansen seems to be something like the God of Teutonic power Metal, as he’s somehow involved in everything: Helloween, Iron Saviour, Blind Guardian, Primal Fear, Stormwarrior, Avantasia, and Unisonic – and these are just a hand full of examples of the different bands who at one point or another sought a collaboration with Kai Hansen… or were founded by him. Of course, this is not only because he is extremely likeable and an incredible song writing skills, but also because of his distinctive and remarkable voice.
