Carcass - Dong Open Air 2015

Carcass, 2015

Carcass are among the most influential bands in the world of extreme guitar creations. Even before the teenagers released their debut "Reek of Putrefication" in 1988 and thus put out some pioneer work for the grindcore scene, guitarist Bill Steer had already played on Napalm Death’s first record. Singer and bassist Bill Steer less successfully played with the Electro Hippies, however effected many important impulses for later crust-, hard- and grindcore bands.
Until 1995, the band developed their music with guitarist Michael Amott from death metal to melodic death metal and created "Heartwork", one of the genre’s milestones.

When Carcass finally disbanded, Amott founded Arch Enemy, who to this day show their Carcass roots. Steer devoted himself to blues and 70s rock, while "Jeff Walker and the Flüffers" - a beautiful metal and rock all-stars troupe - reinterpreted country songs, until the Carcass reunion (without Ken Own who had fallen sick) came about in 2007.

"Surgical Steel," the first album the band released in 18 years, exceeded any and all expectations in 2013. This seems more than a good reasons to have the metal icons play at the fifteenth anniversary up on the lofty heights of the Dong Hill.
