Finally 18 – Thank you!

18.07. 2018

And while we are still dealing with the aftermath of the festival, we do want to take the time to take a first look back:

Many thanks for a wonderful and equally intense 18th birthday on Mount Moshmore! Once again it wasn't just the great headliners who amazed us, but also the numerous new discoveries in the program. Visigoth, Scardust, Triddana, Jinjer, and all the other hungry acts gave it their all from day one to three!

We take our hat off to Chrigel and Eluveitie, who just days after his hospitalization played their complete set without compromises.
Many thanks go out to Antilles from Münster, who Leo of Words of Farewell set us up with at the latest of notices – just in time to fill in for Impureza who had to cancel. All the best wishes go out to new father Guillermo in Orléans!

Heartfelt thanks to our amazing fans! You yet again lived up to your reputation of burning for new bands and being the best party crowd. Even Skindred, who already have had their fair share of experiences with crazy fans, consider their Dong audience as one of the best they have seen in a while! (We, too, consider their show as one of the very best we have seen in 18 years of D.O.A!)
We are also very impressed how seriously you took our request to put the trash where it's supposed to go. Never before has the location looked this good after the festival as it did in 2018! Let's keep it up!

We deeply bow our head in front of our excellent, unique crew! Without you and your passionate commitment before, during, and after the festival, there wouldn't be a Dong Open Air. You contributed to one of the smoothest running Dong editions we can remember! As we said during the after show party: We cannot imagine a better crew than you!

Of course, there were still aspects that didn't turn out perfect this year. We are still facing the challenge of not having running water on the hill and saw that we are reaching our limits in regards to the subject. Also, the early arrival of many fans cannot be tolerated in this form in the future.

Still, we are never growing tired of looking into how we can make the festival better! We are stoked that more of you than ever wanted in on the festival and this is going to make us work even harder!

Thank you all for 18 years of Dong!
Your Dong Team
