The Pokes - Dong Open Air 2016
Folk is a refreshing side kick and a wonderful tradition at the Dong Open Air. If this is your thing and if you liked Fiddler’s Green last, we can only recommend The Pokes to you in 2016. Don’t mix them up with the Pogues, although we cannot help but wonder why the Pokes have not made it to the same level of popularity as their folk punk colleagues from Ireland. “Our” Pokes are from Berlin – and if you were up on the hill with us nine years ago, you might remember that this is quite irrelevant. They made the tent shake when Ian Beer and his buddies rocked the stage as if an Irish flock of sheep was jumping of the cliffs of Éire. Considering that a good look down the north side of the Dong Hill give you a peek on the continental factory of Kerrygold, you will notice that we bring together things that belong! “Hiding out, hiding out, hiding in a bar / hiding out, hiding out, happy with a jar!”
