Our heartfelt thanks!

18.07. 2019

This was it – the Holidays in the Sun!

The Dong veterans among you know that it usually takes us a bit longer to return to the desk. We finally got through taking everything down, which makes it high time to open up our heart to you and thank you for a wonderful nineteenth Dong Open Air!

Let's start with the weather gods, who appeared to enjoy our musical offerings and thus only let as much water go down as we needed to settle that pesky dust.

All 28 bands were excellent, and not one of them had to cancel! Alestorm battled their super traffic jam fate on the autobahn, but still delivered just as hard, as did Battle Beast, Deserted Fear, Gloryhammer, and all of the others.
The Dog Eat Dog show went straight to our hearts – and they were stoked to have all of your long-haired anarchists welcome them so warmly.

Newcomer of the weekend were definitely Bloodywood, who could barely contain themselves to play their first live show outside of India. They also manage to keep up this exuberant energy throughout the entire three days!
And Steel Panther finally found out what this Dong is all about – and are looking forward to the next time!

Another highlight was our audience, of course, who – for the first time in a row – blessed us with an attendance record! Many, many thanks for the relaxed atmosphere, your openness towards the new bands, and your support in terms of trash management!

We would also like to thank the auxiliary fire brigade, the Malteser, the police and the local authorities for their support in lofty heights!

For the nineteenth time, we tip our hats and bow down in front our unparalleled crew! Eleven days, by the sweat of their brows, you helped us make everything happen. Not just some, but many of you, went the extra mile – of good chunk of you on a volunteer basis – to meet the rising expectations. A big thank you from the bottom of our heart!

Next year will be the twentieth time – inconceivable…

But now we're taking a little break. So we can get back to Mount Moshmore with full force!

Your Dong Team
