Scarab - Dong Open Air 2014
Remember the DOA 2013 and Acyl? Although they were virtually unknown at first, they instantly became the best surprise act of the weekend. Now we’re bringing you Scarab, another exotic death meatl band, but this time from Egypt. From a western European point of view, the Egyptian metal scene is rather scarce, this does not lessen the talent of the Cairo-based band or stop them from getting on the fast lane straight to Mount Moshmore. Together since 2006, Scarab took their first musical steps under the Hate Suffocation banner. But their career only got in full swing when they released their 2009 debut “Blinding the Masses.” Since its release in December of 2013, their album “Serpents of the Nile” has caught quite a bit of attention, proving that the DIY make of the record works just as well as it does for many bands in Europe. If only now the Egyptian sun god could cast his magic eye over the Dong hill, the atmosphere could not be any better for a great Scarab show and a fantastic Dong weekend.
